1. Sign the Change.org Petition

Sign the petition started by Dortell’s mother Cheryl Joe, calling on Gov. Newsom to commute his sentence so she can be reunited with him before it’s too late.

2. Contact the Governor

Keep this browser window open and click this link to go to the Comments Section of Governor Newsom’s website.
From the “Topic” drop-down menu, select “Clemency – Commutation of Sentence” and choose the “Leave a Comment” option.
Click NEXT.
Under “If applicable, what is your stance on this topic?” choose “Pro.”
Copy and paste the following message and edit if desired:

Dear Gov. Newsom. I am writing to ask you to commute the sentence of Darrell “Dortell” Williams (#H45771) who has served more than 36 years in prison. He has shown himself to be a completely transformed person and would be an asset to his community. Please reunite him with his mother Cheryl Joe who is getting on in age, before it’s too late. Thank you for your time.
